NMDC signs MoU with Shantigiri Ashram, Hyderabad for herbal plantation in Telangana schools

Hyderabad, 7^th January, 2021: /////  NMDC, the country's largest Iron Ore producer, and a Navratna Company, has signed an MoU with M/s. Santhigiri Institute of Paramedical Sciences (a Unit of Santhigiri Ashram, Thiruvananthapuram) to implement the joint initiative of preventive healthcare, by promoting herbal sapling plantation movement in Schools in Telangana.

      The agreement was signed between NMDC and M/s. Santhigiri Institute of Paramedical Sciences, in the presence of Shri Sumit Deb, CMD, NMDC, Shri Pranavasudhan, Incharge, Santhigiri Institute, Hyderabad, Shri P.K. Satpathy, Director (Production), Shri Amitava Mukharjee, Director (Finance), Shri Alok Kumar Mehta, Director (Commercial), Shri Somnath Nandi, Director (Technical), Senior officers of NMDC and members of Santhigiri Institute at NMDC today.

       NMDC has always been at the forefront of Community Development Initiatives.  As a part thereof, NMDC implements a vibrant and multifaceted CSR programme in the places it operates in. One of the main focus-area of NMDC’s CSR program is Education. NMDC believes in the life transformational impact education plays to uplift the surrounding communities. NMDC has been contributing to the cause of Education by creating the requisite Educational facilities and institutions in the remote areas around its operations.

     In order to bring forth the concept of wholesome education, NMDC has found it apt to accept the offer of 'Santhigiri'- a reputed institution in the social sector, to promote preventive healthcare practices through traditional means. The initiative aims at inculcating a habit of preventive regimen among students and help them learn & understand the benefits of traditional medicinal plants in order to help the society fight against viral infections & pandemics like 'Corona'.

          Commenting on this occasion Shri Sumit Deb, CMD, NMDC said, “NMDC has always given importance to nature, and the umpteen benefits it can offer. Santhigiri Institute of Paramedical Sciences is an ideal partner for the preventative healthcare education campaign covering wide array of audiences and through distribution of herbal saplings in Telangana. We would like to take this collaboration forward for the students to learn how to care of the herbal saplings and give a boost to fight preventive infections & diseases.”

हैदराबाद, //// देश के सबसे बड़े लौह अयस्‍क उत्‍पादक एवं लौह अयस्‍क कंपनी एनएमडीसी ने तेलंगाना में विद्यालयों में हर्बल पौधारोपण के माध्‍यम से निवारक स्‍वास्‍थ्‍य देखभाल को बढ़ाने के लिए एक संयुक्‍त पहल का कार्यान्‍वयन करने के लिए मेसर्स सांतिगिरी इंस्‍टीट्यूट ऑफ पैरा‍मेडिकल साइंसेस (सांतिगिरी आश्रम, तिरूवनन्‍तपुरम की एक इकाई) के साथ एक समझौता ज्ञापन पर हस्‍ताक्षर किए।

एनएमडीसी तथा मेसर्स सांतिगिरी इंस्‍टीट्यूट ऑफ पैरा‍मेडिकल साइंसेस के बीच समझौता ज्ञापन श्री सुमित देब, सीएमडी, एनएमडीसी; श्रीप्रणवसुदन, प्रभारी, सांतिगिरीइंस्‍टीट्यूट, हैदराबाद; श्रीपी.के; सतपथी, निदेशक (उत्‍पादन), श्री अमिताभ मुखर्जी, निदेशक (वित्‍त), श्री आलोक मेहता, निदेशक (वाणिज्‍य), श्री सोमनाथ नंदी, निदेशक (तकनीकी), एनएमडीसी के वरिष्‍ठ अधिकारियों एवं सांतिगिरी इंस्‍ट्रीट्यूट के सदस्‍यों की उपस्थिति में आज एनएमडीसी में सम्‍पन्‍न हुआ।

एनएमडीसी हमेशा ही सामुदायिक विकास के कार्यों में अग्रणी रहा है। इसी के एक भाग के रूप में एनएमडीसी अपने प्रचालन के क्षेत्रों में एक जीवंत तथा बहुमुखी सीएसआर कार्यक्रम का कार्यान्‍वयन कर रहा है। एनएमडीसी के सीएसआर कार्यक्रमों का एक प्रमुख केंद्र शिक्षा है। एनएमडीसी यह विश्‍वास करता है कि समुदायों के विकास में शिक्षा एक परिवर्तनकारी भूमिका अदा करती है। एनएमडीसी अपने प्रचालन के क्षेत्रों के आसपास सुदूरवर्ती क्षेत्रों में आवश्‍यक शैक्षिक सुविधाओं तथा संस्‍थाओं की स्‍थापना करके शिक्षा के क्षेत्र में योगदान कर रहा है।

सम्‍पूर्ण शिक्षा की संकल्‍पना को आगे बढ़ाने के लिए एनएमडीसी ने पारंपरिक साधनों के माध्‍यम से निवारक स्‍वास्‍थ्‍य देखभाल को प्रोत्‍साहित करने के लिए सामाजिक क्षेत्र के एक प्रतिष्ठित संस्‍थान "सांतिगिरी"  के प्रस्‍ताव को उपयुक्‍त समझा।  इस पहल का उद्देश्‍य विद्यार्थियों में निवारक आहार नियमों की आदत डालने तथा पारंपरिक चिकित्‍सकीय पौधों के बारे में जानने एवं उनके लाभों को समझने में सहायता करना है जिससे कि वायरल संक्रमणों तथा "कोरोना" जैसी महामारियों के विरूद्ध संघर्ष के लिए समाज को सहायता मिल सके।

इस अवसर पर बोलते हुए श्री सुमित देब, सीएमडी, एनएमडीसी ने कहा कि  "एनएमडीसी ने सदैव ही प्रकृति तथा इसके द्वारा प्रदान किए जाने वाले असीमित लाभों को महत्‍व दिया है। सांतिगिरी इंस्‍टीट्यूट ऑफ पैरामेडिकल साइंसेस निवारक स्‍वास्‍थ्‍य देखभाल संबंधी शिक्षा के अभियान में एक आदर्श भागीदार है जो तेलंगाना में हर्बल पौधों के वितरण के माध्‍यम से बड़ी संख्‍या में लोगों तक पहुंच बनाएगा। हम विद्यार्थियों के लिए इस गठजोड़ को आगे बढ़ाना चाहते हैं जिससे कि वे हर्बल पौधों की देखभाल के संबंध में शिक्षा प्राप्‍त कर सकें तथा संक्रमणों एवं बीमारियों से बचाव के लिए संघर्ष को आगे बढ़ा सकें।"
