**** NMDC R&D Centre and IIT Hyderabad Sign MoU Strengthening Academic and Research Collaboration ***

Hyderabad, 26 February 2026//// The R&D Centre of NMDC, Responsible Miner has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad (IITH), a significant step towards shaping the future of India’s mineral and metals sector. The MoU was signed by Shri Sanjeev Sahi, ED (R&D), NMDC, and the Dean (Sponsored Research &Consultancy), IIT Hyderabad, in the presence of Prof. B. S. Murty, Director, IIT Hyderabad, aimed at advancing indigenous technology in mineral processing and allied areas.

This partnership represents a strong collaboration between field expertise and academic excellence. Together, NMDC and IIT Hyderabad will drive research in iron ore beneficiation and agglomeration, green steelmaking technologies, alternate ironmaking using indigenous raw materials, and advanced modeling and simulation of mining and metallurgical processes. The collaboration will also chart new pathways in the extraction of critical and rare earth minerals from primary and secondary sources, strengthening India’s mineral security and resource resilience.

Aligned with the rapid digital transformation of the mining sector, the MoU will drive research and pilot initiatives in autonomous vehicle movement, Artificial Intelligence, Internet of Things (IoT), Mining 4.0 frameworks, and drone-enabled surveying and monitoring. By integrating operational strength with research-driven innovation, the collaboration aims to deliver sustainable, technology-led solutions that enhance efficiency, productivity, and environmental stewardship across India’s evolving mineral landscape.

On the occasion of the MoU signing, Shri Amitava Mukherjee, Chairman-cum-Managing Director, NMDC, said, “The MoU with IIT Hyderabad strengthens NMDC’s commitment to innovation through industry–academia collaboration. हैदराबाद, 26 फरवरी, 2026 // रिस्पॉन्सिबल मिनरल्स NHDC के रिसर्च एंड डेवलपमेंट सेंटर ने इंडियन इंस्टीट्यूट ऑफ़ टेक्नोलॉजी, हैदराबाद (IITH) के साथ एक मेमोरेंडम ऑफ़ अंडरस्टैंडिंग (MoU) साइन किया है, जो भारत के मिनरल और मेटल सेक्टर के भविष्य को आकार देने की दिशा में एक अहम कदम है। मिनरल प्रोसेसिंग और उससे जुड़े सेक्टर में देसी टेक्नोलॉजी को आगे बढ़ाने के मकसद से, इस MoU पर NHDC के एग्जीक्यूटिव डायरेक्टर (R&D) श्री संजीव साही और IIT हैदराबाद के डीन (स्पॉन्सर्ड रिसर्च एंड कंसल्टेंसी) ने IIT हैदराबाद के डायरेक्टर प्रो. बी.एस. मूर्ति की मौजूदगी में साइन किए।

यह पार्टनरशिप फील्ड एक्सपर्टीज़ और एकेडमिक एक्सीलेंस के बीच एक मज़बूत कोलेबोरेशन को दिखाती है। NMDC और IIT हैदराबाद मिलकर आयरन ओर बेनिफिशिएशन और एग्लोमरेशन, ग्रीन स्टीलमेकिंग टेक्नोलॉजी, देसी कच्चे माल का इस्तेमाल करके अल्टरनेटिव आयरनमेकिंग, और माइनिंग और मेटलर्जिकल प्रोसेस की एडवांस्ड मॉडलिंग और सिमुलेशन में रिसर्च को आगे बढ़ाएंगे। यह कोलेबोरेशन प्राइमरी और सेकेंडरी सोर्स से ज़रूरी और रेयर अर्थ मिनरल निकालने के नए रास्ते भी बनाएगा, जिससे भारत की मिनरल सिक्योरिटी और रिसोर्स की अवेलेबिलिटी मज़बूत होगी।

माइनिंग सेक्टर में हो रहे तेज़ी से डिजिटल ट्रांसफॉर्मेशन के साथ, यह MoU ऑटोनॉमस गाड़ियों, आर्टिफिशियल इंटेलिजेंस, इंटरनेट ऑफ़ थिंग्स (IoT), माइनिंग 4.0 फ्रेमवर्क और ड्रोन-इनेबल्ड सर्वेइंग और ट्रैकिंग में रिसर्च और पायलट इनिशिएटिव को आगे बढ़ाएगा। ऑपरेशनल स्टेट को रिसर्च-ड्रिवन इनोवेशन के साथ इंटीग्रेट करके, इस पार्टनरशिप का मकसद सस्टेनेबल, टेक्नोलॉजी-ड्रिवन सॉल्यूशन देना है जो भारत के डेवलप हो रहे मिनरल लैंडस्केप में एफिशिएंसी, प्रोडक्टिविटी और एनवायरनमेंटल मैनेजमेंट को बढ़ाते हैं।

MoU पर साइन करते हुए, AMDC के चेयरमैन और मैनेजिंग डायरेक्टर, श्री अमिताभ मुखर्जी ने कहा, "IIT हैदराबाद के साथ MoU इंडस्ट्री-एकेडेमिया कोलेबोरेशन के लिए AMDC के कमिटमेंट को मज़बूत करता है। IIT हैदराबाद की रिसर्च एक्सीलेंस और AMDC की डोमेन एक्सपर्टीज़ का फ़ायदा उठाकर, यह पार्टनरशिप माइनिंग, मिनरल प्रोसेसिंग और उभरते सेक्टर में देसी टेक्नोलॉजी को आगे बढ़ाएगी, जिससे सस्टेनेबल डेवलपमेंट और आत्मनिर्भर भारत के विज़न में मदद मिलेगी।" यह पार्टनरशिप AMDC के इनोवेशन-ड्रिवन डेवलपमेंट के कमिटमेंट और रिसर्च को असरदार इंडस्ट्रियल एप्लीकेशन में बदलने में IIT हैदराबाद की भूमिका को दिखाती है। दोनों इंस्टीट्यूशन मिलकर आत्मनिर्भर भारत के नेशनल विज़न में योगदान देंगे। खास बात यह है कि यह कोलेबोरेशन एक ऐतिहासिक पल पर हो रहा है, जब AMDC के रिसर्च एंड डेवलपमेंट सेंटर्स ने भारत के रिसोर्स डेवलपमेंट इतिहास में समर्पित योगदान के 50 साल पूरे कर लिए हैं, जिससे रिसर्च में बेहतरीन काम करने की इसकी विरासत और टेक्नोलॉजी में तरक्की की इसकी लगातार कोशिश और मज़बूत हुई है।
