National Webinar on “Research Design and Methodology”In Kalinga University

Raipur ////   Faculty of Arts & Humanities organized a National Webinar on the topic “Research Design and Methodology” for research scholars, under graduate and post graduate students. The session was conducted online on the platform of Microsoft Team on 4th October 2021 at 11:00 a.m. The session was supervised by the Dean, Faculty of Arts & Humanities, Dr. Shilpi Bhattacharya. The Keynote speaker of the event was Dr. Namrata Shrivastava who is a faculty in the Economics Department of Kalinga University Naya Raipur, Chhattisgarh. The webinar began with welcoming all participants and dignitaries to the event. Dr. Namrata Shrivastava commenced her session by giving an informative account of the importance of Research design and methodology. With the help of a power point presentation, she emphasized the various topics which the session was going to throw light on.

She said that the search for knowledge through objective and systematic method of finding solution to a problem is Research. Research is not related only for students but it is also useful in daily life. It develops our critical thinking skills, gives us knowledge and learnings and also provide us an information that we can apply or use in our daily life. Research is search for facts and knowledge. Research is really important because it reveals reality and unreality. She further discussed about the motivation behind research like getting a research degree along with its consequential benefits, facing challenges in solving the unsolved problems, desire to be service to the society etc.

She further elaborated the different types of research so researcher can choice a particular type of research according his or her research area. She told that how one can do research properly by using research design and methodology. She said that research design and methodology is also equally important in research. Research design is the framework of research methods and techniques chosen by a researcher.

The design allows researchers to hone in on research methods that are suitable for the subject matter and set up their studies up for success. Research design carries an important influence on the reliability of the results attained. It therefore provides a solid base for the whole research. It is needed due to the fact that it allows for the smooth working of the many research operations. This makes the research as effective as possible by providing maximum information with minimum spending of effort, money and time. Research methodology is the specific procedures or techniques used to identify, select, process, and analyze information about a topic. In a research paper, the methodology section allows the reader to critically evaluate a study’s overall validity and reliability. The methodology section answers two main questions: How was the data collected or generated? How was it analyzed? . A methodology will give you the guidelines to make your project manageable, smooth and effective. She ended her session by discussing the importance of research like students who are to write a master’s or Ph.D. thesis, research may mean a careerism or a way to attain a high position in the social structure, professionals in research methodology, research may mean a source of livelihood, philosophers and thinkers, research may mean the outlet for new ideas and insights, literary men and women- research may mean the development of new styles and creative work and analysts and intellectuals, research may mean the generalizations of new theories. The session ended with a vote of thanks given by the Host, Mrs. Shreya Dwivedi. The session was very informative and interactive. Activity had been conducted successfully .The Session received positive feedbacks and students expressed their wish of attending similar informative webinars in the future.
