Balconagar, Korba, September 24, 2021://// Bharat Aluminium Company (BALCO), India’s iconic aluminium producer,has recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology (VNIT) Nagpurfor using their green concrete solutionfor road construction inside the plant, as well as nearby areas.
Green concrete is an innovative solution developed by the institute to utilize industrial byproducts such as fly ash and bottom ash for construction purposes. VNIT’s research has shown that more than 500 kgsof ash could be consumed per cubic meter of concrete road, instead of current usage of 100 kgs by addition of high solid content super plasticizer admixture developed by them. This roughly translates to about 600 tonnes of ash consumption per km of a single lane road. As ash is a voluminous byproduct of thermal power generation, such an innovation will not only give rise to sustainable construction but also ensure environmental sustainability in the long run.

Vedanta Aluminium Business, of which BALCO is a part, has expressed interest for long-term collaboration with cement producers to manufacture low-carbon cement using fly-ash and bauxite residue. The Business is working on a wide range of waste-to-wealth programmesaimed at sustainable ad gainful utilization of industrial wastes.

बालकोनगर, 24 सितंबर। वेदांता /// समूह की कंपनी भारत एल्यूमिनियम कंपनी लिमिटेड (बालको) ने विश्वेश्वरैया नेशनल इंस्टीट्यूट ऑफ टेक्नोलॉजी (व्हीएनआईटी), नागपुर के साथ समझौता (एमओयू) किया है जिसके अंतर्गत संयंत्र परिसर और आसपास के क्षेत्रों में होने वाले सड़क निर्माण कार्यों में व्हीएनआईटी द्वारा विकसित ग्रीन कांक्रीट के प्रयोग को बढ़ावा दिया जाएगा।
ग्रीन कांक्रीट व्हीएनआईटी का ऐसा नवाचार है जिसमें फ्लाई ऐश और बॉटम ऐश जैसे औद्योगिक अपशिष्टों का प्रयोग करते हुए निर्माण कार्य संचालित किए जाते हैं। व्हीएनआईटी ने अपने शोध में यह पाया है कि यदि हाई सॉलिड सुपर प्लास्टिसाइजर को फ्लाई ऐश में मिलाकर प्रयोग किया जाए तो कांक्रीट सड़क के निर्माण में प्रति घनमीटर फ्लाई ऐश की खपत 100 किलोग्राम से बढ़कर 500 किलोग्राम हो जाती है। इस प्रकार ग्रीन कांक्रीट के प्रयोग से प्रति किलोमीटर एकल लेन रोड के निर्माण में 600 टन फ्लाई ऐश की खपत हो सकती है। बड़े पैमाने पर ग्रीन कांक्रीट के प्रयोग से पर्यावरण का संरक्षण सुनिश्चित होगा साथ ही निर्माण कार्यों में नवाचार को गति मिलेगी।
बालको के मुख्य कार्यकारी अधिकारी एवं निदेशक श्री अभिजीत पति ने अपशिष्ट पदार्थों को मूल्य संवर्धित उत्पादों में तब्दील करने की दिशा मंे की गई पहल पर कहा कि ‘‘औद्योगिक अपशिष्टों मंे कमी लाने और अनेक नए प्रयोगों के जरिए उन्हें नागरिकों और पर्यावरण के लिए लाभकारी बनाने के उद्देश्य से बालको ने अपने प्रचालन में अत्याधुनिक तकनीकों को स्थान दिया है। ग्रीन कांक्रीट को बढ़ावा देने से कार्बन फुटप्रिंट में कमी होगी जो बालको के उत्कृष्ट पर्यावरण प्रबंधन का परिचायक है। हमें इस बात की प्रसन्नता है कि बालको और व्हीएनआईटी की संयुक्त पहल से निर्माण कार्यों में ग्रीन कांक्रीट से बनी संरचनाओं को बढ़ावा मिलेगा।’’
